Adopt ‘no mercy’ approach and sack non-performing appointees— Akufo-Addo told

A South Korea Branch Manager of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Zinleri, has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sack Ministers and government appointees who are not performing to help his second term of administration.

According to him, governance is a serious business, adding that appointees have to be selfless and focused in their respective fields of endeavour to bring  government’s vision to fruition.

“Any Minister or appointee who showed laxity in the performance of his or her duties must be sacked as soon as possible by President Akufo-Addo,” he said.

Speaking in an interview with Kingdom FM in Accra today as monitored by Spot On News, Mr Zinleri encouraged the president not to be afraid of any of his appointees and crack the whip when the need arises.

“He [Nana Addo] should not be afraid to fire and as far as I am concerned, he has to be ruthless. Anybody who is seen not to be delivering should move and let somebody else come in,” he added.

Mr Zinleri charged President Akufo-Addo to only work with officials who would exhibit high level of patriotism and committed in making his vision become realised.

“He should be vigilant and work with those who demonstrated patriotism, the tenacity of purpose, and commitment to the good cause of the nation,” he added.

Mr Zinleri explaining why the President should not adopt the “forgiven and merciful” approach with his ministers, he said the party might go to opposition in 2024 if he adopts the “merciful approach.”

“President is fully aware that if his appointees fail, the party will lose in the 2024 general elections hence must not waste time to change non-performing ministers,” he added.
