Funny Face remanded for two weeks

A Kasoa District Court has remanded famed comic actor, Nana Yaw Odoru Boateng known as Funny Face into police custody for two weeks following his involvement in a car accident at Kasoa in the Central Region on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

The incident occurred at Kakraba Junction, around 9 PM, where Funny Face allegedly hit approximately five pedestrians while driving his Hyundai Atos car.

While his counsel pleaded for his bail, the prosecution held that ample time would be needed for further investigations into the matter.

The prosecution pleaded that it would need more time to also conduct a toxicology investigation, as eyewitnesses at the accident scene held that the celebrity was engaged in drunk driving.

The comedian has been charged with reckless driving.

Before the day’s hearing, he was heard expressing his joy that those victims who were hospitalised were in good condition and responding to treatment.

Meanwhile, a key witness who is a Health and Business Consultant, Reginald Bondzie in a media interview dismissed the claims of reckless driving, saying the accident happened due to the fault of two Okada riders.

He said the comedian was detained to help in further investigation last Sunday night after he rammed down a woman and her two children.

Bondzie said, there were no fatalities resulting from the accident, the three victims sustained life-threatening injuries and were responding to treatment at Korle-bu teaching hospital.
