Ghana mourns veteran actor, Psalm Adjeteyfio ‘TT’ 

Ghana is thrown into a state of shock after it received a news about the passing of a veteran comic actor, Psalm Adjeteyfio known professionally as TT.

TT died this morning after he was rushed to the hospital in Dodowa within the Shai Osudoku District, where he was pronounced dead by the health practitioners.

He was known for his role in the Ghanaian series “Taxi Driver”, which was popular in the 2000s.

Reacting on his death on social media, some Ghanaians said he would always be remembered for his sterling acting skills which he jovially combined the Ga language with the English.

They called on the bereaved family to take heart and sent their condolences. Some Twitter users circulated videos of the veteran actor during his prime when he hit the screens.

For some users, TT was a legend based on his role in the local movie industry.

Mr Adjeteyfio was battling with an ailment for the past years which drained him of all his savings.

Although the cause of his death was not immediately known but T.T had been diagnosed with a heart condition and diabetes which some people had related his death to heart failure.

Prior to his demise, TT received support from government and well-to-do citizens to undergo a heart expansion treatment.

His son, Nii Adjei Adjeteyfio, confirmed his death to the media on Friday, April 8, 2022.

He narrated that his father fell unconscious when one of his sons visited him earlier this morning.

He said they quickly rushed him to a hospital at Dodowa in the Shai Osudoku District but the actor was pronounced dead on arrival.

TT before his demise made public his financial predicaments, which he said the ailment has impoverished his situation, and attributed some of his financial handicap to a poor working conditions during his active acting days.

At the time, he said he needed GHS3,000 to settle his rent, or he would be evicted from his current abode.

Mr Adjeteyfio had complained that he no longer gets acting gigs and was also not engaged in any active work at that moment.

He said his survival hinged on the benevolence of people, hence the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and other persons, including the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, came to his aid.

Psalm Adjeteyfio, apart from playing a lead role in “Taxi Driver” also starred in movies like Papa Lasisi Good Bicycle, American Boy, The Chosen One, The Scent of Danger and A Stab in the Dark,  among others.
