I want to leave artistic impression, not to engage porn with my son—Akuapem Poloo pleads

Rosemond Brown popularly known as Akuapem Poloo has apologised for sharing nude pictures to celebrate the birth of her son on social media after Child Right International (CRI) reported her to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

According to her, the picture was meant to leave artistic impression and not to abuse the child’s right by promoting pornography with him.

Responding to her arrest by the CID, the controversial actress explained that she is an artist and everything she does was meant to send artistic message.

She said she has been bathing with her son and there was nothing wrong if she wanted to send artistic message that would enable her son to remember to cloth her one day when he grows to see her nakedness.

“Many children are not ready to cloth their mother if they see their nakedness because they become shy to call them their mother. This picture is meant to teach my son to cloth me one day when he sees my nakedness.

He should not feel shy to cloth me so this is the message I am sending across not to engage my son in pornography,” Akuapem Poloo added.

However,  the CRI, a non-governmental organisation which had different perspective about the image has reported Rosemond Brown to the CID to arrest the actress for abusing the right of her child.

According to a statement issued yesterday in Accra and signed by the Executive Director of CRI, Bright Appiah the act was a violation of the Welfare Principle of the Children’ ACT and abuse of the child’s right to privacy and dignity.

“Our attention has been drawn to a nude picture involving a certain Miss Rosemond Brown Popularly known as “Akuapem Poloo” and a child circulating on social media.

As a child rights organisation that believes in upholding the rights of children, we deem this act as a violation of the Welfare Principle of the Children’ ACT and abuse of the child’s right to privacy and dignity,” he stated.

Mr Appiah indicated that the said image should be aborted from circulation on  social media and urged the people not to use it as a click bait to restore the privacy and dignity of the child.

“We wish to notify your esteemed office to investigate the taking of the said images and its circulation.
We count on your cooperation,” he added.

CRI has an aim of upholding the fundamental human rights of children irrespective of their religion, status, geographical location, colour and ethnicity, thus does not allow any abuse of children’s right either international or not.
