Manage your temperament and pray for your tongue— Haruna Iddrisu scolds Napo

The Minority leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu has advised the Energy Minister designate, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh to manage his “mood and temperament.”

He also urged the minister not to oppose his advice and just watch his tongue carefully when he is dealing with others.

“You don’t need to comment on this, it is a personal advice to you. My mother said that each morning I should pray for my tongue. So I will leave it there, learn to pray for your tongue and learn to manage your mood and temperament because there is some potential ahead of you as a young person……So, pray for your tongue. I just think that you should be able to manage it, you didn’t need to be provoked,” he urged.

Mr Iddrisu gave the advise during vetting of the minister designate in Accra on Friday.

His advice followed the posture of the former Education Minister while answering some questions put to him by Okudzeto Ablakwa during his vetting in parliament.

“when Honourable Ablakwa and Suhuyini were questioning you, I was not particularly happy with your mood because scrutiny of this nature as observed by one congresswoman is to look at knowledge of subject matter, IQ, temperament and service to the Ghanaian people,” Mr Iddrisu added.

He noted that the interrogatories sought to help them have fair idea about how he knows the new ministry and the person he succeeded, what the person did  and what Mr Opoku Prempeh would do differently to promote the sector.

“But I noticed that you were not particularly happy and you were finding it difficult to retract even when it was necessary,” Mr Iddrisu said.

In response, Mr Opoku Prempeh said “Thank you Minority leader, I take the advice for all of us.”
