MUSIGA organises ‘My Hero Reggae Concert’ tonight to honour Rawlings

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is organising a music concert dubbed: “My Hero Reggae Concert” tonight to honour the memories of the late Former President Jerry John Rawlings.

The event will be held at the forecourt of the Art Centre in Accra at exactly 6:00pm.

It will see performances from giants reggae dancehall musicians including King Benjah, Ras Levi, Chizzy Walker, Jah Wisdom, Bobo Ranking among others.

Traditional performer Driah and Gospel musicians among all the Musicians who sing from other genres will also grace the event to perform.

In an interview with Spot On News in Accra on Saturday, the Chairman of MUSIGA who is also a Reggae musician, Ras Caleb explained that the event was being organised to pay homage to the late Rawlings.

He said Former President Rawlings in his zeal of linking the country to the Diaspora initiated Emancipation Day, Panafest among other events to propel the creative art industry.

“He has done a lot for we the Musicians and other people in the Creative Art industry. He built all the offices of MUSIGA. He also established the copyright law to help the Musicians, he also built the National Theater, Conference Centre and other big places to promote Ghanaian crafts,” Ras Caleb said.

He noted that the celebration of the Year of Return and other events took its inspiration from the earlier events initiated by the Former President Rawlings.

Ras Caleb urged the citizenry to partake in the tribute night concert as it would be a night full of fun and enjoyment.

He disclosed that the event would also be used to launch an annual concert that would be held to celebrate the birthdays of the late Former President Rawlings on every June 22.

“The ticket is going out for cool Ghc10 at the venue of the event. Let’s join hands and pay homage and send our tribute to the late state man who over the years had helped the creative art industry,” he added.
