Our manifesto is without ’empty promises’ and will ‘rescue’ Ghana from destruction—Naana Opoku-Agyemang speaks ahead of manifesto launch

Running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has described the party’s yet to launch manifesto as a human-centred and a rescue plan to cater for the needs of Ghanaians.

According to her, the party took time to carefully design and plan the manifesto to rescue the nation from destruction.

Addressing the chiefs and people of Bekwai as part of her campaign tour in the Western North region, Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang  said the manifesto, which would be launched tomorrow, September 7, is without “empty promises.”

She assured that the manifesto is well-tailored and entailed programmes that would enable the citizenry achieve their aspirations in a progressive manner to build a prosperous nation.

Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang explained that the party took time to hold broader consultations across the country to ensure that its manifesto covered all critical issues of Ghanaians.

“Developing a manifesto is not about gathering some 10 people in a room to write a document on what they think the people need. You end up with misplaced priorities and empty promises.

The question is, who are you doing it for, and what are the people saying are their actual needs and wants?” she queried.

Giving a glimpse of the manifesto programme on education, Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang indicated that Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) would be enhanced with support from a $10 billion “Big Push” agenda which the former President John Dramani Mahama announced to fast track infrastructural development across key sectors of the economy when the NDC returns to power.

That, she added, would make TVET more attractive and accessible to the youth to address youth unemployment in a proactive manner.

The plan for enhanced TVET, Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang explained, fed into the objective of upgrading polytechnics to technical universities, envisaged under the previous NDC administration.

She thanked the chiefs and people of the area for the warm reception and urged them to vote massively for the NDC for meaningful national development.

Prof Naana called on the citizenry to rally round the party by voting for “John & Jane” to rescue the country from further destruction.
