The Managing Director of Think about the Mentally challenged Persons Near You (TaMeC PeNY), Evans Boateng has advised persons born on 4,13,22 and 31 day of any month to take extra care of themselves as they are more prone to COVID-19 ailment.

According to him, those individuals were scientifically closer to mental disorders and are prone to all sorts of diseases including COVID-19.

A statement issued yesterday in Accra and signed by Mr Boateng stated that those individuals most times exhibit behaviours that were signs of mental illness.

“These signs include extreme highs and lows, fear, anger, anxiety, or worry, change in sleeping or eating habits, social withdrawal, change in performance, inability to manage or cope with daily challenges, substance use, prolonged sadness, complaint of physical ailments and suicidal thoughts,” he said.

The symptoms, Mr Boateng observed make them more vulnerable during periods like the current pandemic period, stressing that fear and anxiety associated with the novel coronavirus affect their mental well-being.

He called for support for those individuals and urged the government to put in place appropriate measures to alleviate the plight of those living with mental disorders.

Mr Boateng also cautioned them against drugs like weed, tramadol, cocaine and other hard drugs that could have a toll on their mental health.

He explained that numbers were powerful and there was the need for the country to know about the relevance of numbers and act accordingly to suppress its effects on humanity.

Mr Boateng said 2020 was a karmic year and required one to be innovative and gently act towards nature and humanity to propel the developmental agenda of the country.

In order to stem out the virus, he urged the government to fairly distribute national resources and appealed to religious leaders, scientists and traditionalists to collaboratively work in finding lasting solution that would benefit humans and natural things.

“Coronavirus will continue to be a problem until leaders acknowledge all humans as one and equally important. Until religion accept that human problems are caused by humans actions. Therefore it requires talents, resources and scientific innovations to solve them,” Mr Boateng added.

He indicated that humans actions are born by their belief system and underscored the need for them to renew their minds.

“Humanity should care and protect nature with love, care, support, hope, peace and adopt the universal belief that once you heal the earth, the earth will heal you,” Mr Boateng said.
