President Akufo-Addo expresses Ghana’s support to the American President after testing positive for COVID-19

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed Ghana’s to support to the American President and wife after they tested positive for Coronavirus  Disease (COVID-19).

He joins over hundreds of world leaders who have wished President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump well in their difficult moment.

In a tweet, President Akufo-Addo on behalf of the country and his wife wished the Trumps speedy recovery and expressed Ghana’s support to them.

“My wife Rebecca and I send best wishes to @realDonaldTrump and his wife, @MELANIATRUMP, after they both contracted COVID-19. We wish them a speedy recovery,” he said.

American President Donald Trump announced on early hours on Friday that he and his wife, Melania Trump have tested positive for COVID-19.

They are currently in a stable condition and are receiving special treatment from the whitehouse.

This is an extraordinary development coming months into a global pandemic and in the final stretch of his reelection campaign in which he has flouted experts’ guidance on preventing the disease’s spread.

“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” Trump tweeted shortly before 1 a.m on Friday.

Later, the first lady wrote on Twitter that she and her husband were “feeling good.”

In a memo issued to reporters around 1 a.m. ET, the President’s physician, Navy Cmdr. Dr Sean Conley, wrote that he received confirmation of the positive tests on Thursday evening.

“The President and First Lady are both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence,” Conley wrote.

He stated that the White House medical team together with him would maintain a vigilant watch on them, and expressed his appreciation to the support provided by some of the  greatest medical professionals and institutions in the country.
