Prez pledges to transform the economy from exporter to an industrialised one

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed commitment in working assiduously to transform the economy of the country from an exporter of raw materials to a more modern value-adding industrialised one.

According to him, the clock has chimed for transformation of the country’s economy and expressed determination to lead the transformational part.

“As president of the republic, I am determined to make my leadership of Ghana the period that witnessed the laying of the foundation for the transformation of our economy from an exporter of raw materials and retailer of cheap imported goods to a modern value-adding industrialised one,” President Akufo-Addo said.

In a message to celebrate the Founders’ Day on his social media portals on Tuesday, the President noted that as a mark of reverence to forebears, citizens had to work to free themselves from the economic arrangements designed by the former colonial power.

That, he indicated would help to serve its  purpose especially at the time that the people had to come together and bound with common interest.

“We must make concerted efforts to break away from the neo-colonial structure of the raw material producing and exporting, economy which has largely been our lot,” President Akufo-Addo added.

He pledged his outfit’s commitment to continue providing each Ghanaian with a decent education, a decent healthcare system, a decent job, a decent home, an adequate safety net for the vulnerable and the marginalised, and a decent retirement while they live in an atmosphere of freedom, security, law and order.

President Akufo-Addo observed that the importance and significance of August 4, in the life and history of the nation could not be repeated enough and urged the people to help drive the transformational agenda to boost the economy of the country.

“Today we acknowledge the role played by successive generations of Ghanaians towards the liberation of our country from colonialism and imperialism.

The importance and significance of August 4 in the life and history of our nation cannot be repeated enough.

That is what the founder of our nation envisioned for us as our goal.

Let us all put our shoulders to the wheel, and drive our nation to its destination, a united, developed, prosperous, free Democratic and independent Ghanaian nation,” he said.

In addition, Nana Akufo-Addo wished all Ghanaians Happy Founder’s Day.
