Promotion of my song has become stress-free— Kofi Kinaata reveals
Multiple award winning songwriter, Martin King Arthur known by his stage name Kofi Kinaata has revealed that writing good lyrical content has been his key pivotal strength in the industry and has aided the promotion of his music.
According to him, his quality-enriched lyrics always make Disc Jockeys (DJs) rush for his songs to play for their audiences.

Speaking exclusively to SpotOnNews, the four-time winner of the Songwriter of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Kofi Kinaata stated that his lyrical prowess stemmed from his zeal to provide worthy songs to entertain music lovers and fans.
He noted that the stress in promoting songs in the country especially the payment of payola among others always compell him to put together great pieces in order for his songs to lead trends and easily make people search for it.
“Promotion in Ghana is very tough; a lot is involved, and so sometimes when I am writing a song, I make sure I do stuff that wouldn’t be hard to promote it, one that DJ’s would like to play and one that people call FM stations to request, so as to make the work easier.”
“Sometimes you have to follow trend or say certain things before a song can hit. If you can’t do all that you have to make sure you do a good song,” Kofi Kinaata explained
He therefore advised young and up and coming artists to channel their energies into writing good lyrical content to make the promotion of their songs easy.
Kofi Kinaata indicated that his recent award was a clear indication that he was a good songwriter, contrary to claims by some industry players who believed that he was overrated.
It could be recalled that veteran musician, Rex Omar excluded the ‘Things fall apart’ hitmaker from his top five songwriters claiming that he was not that good a writer.

Rex Omar in an interview on an Accra-based Zylophone FM station claimed that the Fante musician could be described as a good lyricist but not a good songwriter.
But reacting to the claims Kofi Kinaata said he believed in his song writing skills and Ghanaians could testify to that.
“I believe in myself, I know myself so this is for you people so you can believe that Kofi can write songs or Kofi has good contents.
“For me I know who I am, I know I can write but this is just for you people to believe that I can write,” Kofi Kinaata reacted.
Kofi Kinaata beat competition from Diana Hamilton, Adina, Joe Mettle, Abiana and Epixode to win the award with his song ‘Behind The Scenes’.
He is the first artiste to win the award four times consecutively.
