Report any person who ran from the lockdown areas to authorities when exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19—Kojo Oppong Nkrumah

The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has called on residents in the exempted lockdown places to report any foreign person who shows symptoms of COVID-19 to the near by health facility.

He observed that, some people within the lockdown areas have traveled to other part of the regions and expressed worried that they might contract the virus.

Speaking at the just ended media briefing in Accra, Mr Nkrumah stated that although necessary measures were in place to trace any contact of those who traveled within that period, adding that the public should also be on alert to blow the whistle when necessary.

He reiterated the need for residents in the affected areas of Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi, to be reminded that the frontline of the fight against Coronavirus “is at your front door, If you cross it, you and your family will likely be infected.”

Mr Nkrumah  assured that the government has beefed up measures to deal with the virus, and appealed to the public to stay home when they have nothing important doing outside.

“I assure you that we know what to do to bring back our economy back to life. What we do not know how to do is to bring people back to life,” he added.

Mr Nkrumah pledged the government commitment in protecting lives and livelihoods, thus urged the citizenry in all parts of the country to continue observing the social distancing and enhanced hygiene protocols.

“For they are the weapons of our defence against the virus,” he stressed.
