Taylor Swift surprises fans with ‘folklore’ after Isolation

American narrative singer, Taylor Swift yester night released the much anticipated eight studio album, dubbed; “Folklore” along side the video of “Cardigan.”

The 16-track album, according to her was written and recorded in isolation during the Covid-19 lockdown period.

“Most of the things I had planned this summer didn’t end up happening, but there is something I hadn’t planned on that did happen,” she added.

Announcing the release of the album on her handles, Taylor Swift explained that in isolation her imagination ran wild and the album was the result.

“A collection of songs and stories that flowed like a stream of consciousness. Picking up a pen was my way of escaping into fantasy, history and memory. I’ve told these stories to the best of my ability with love, wonder and whimsy they deserve. Now it is up to you to pass them down. Folklore is out now,” she said.

Folklore is made up of songs she poured all whims, dreams, fears, and musings into and remotely collaborated with musical heroes including The National’s Aaron Dessner, Bon Iver and Jack Antonoff.

“Before this year I probably would have over-thought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we are living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed,” Taylor Swift observed.

Her gut, she noted was forcing her to put out into the world something that she made with love, hence the release of the album.

“The entire shoot was overseen by a medical inspector, everyone wore masks, stayed away from each other, and I even did my own hair, makeup, and styling,” Taylor Swift stated.

The award winning singer had been due to play her seventh album, “Lover,” at a string of festivals this summer, before the coronavirus pandemic put paid to live music.

In February, the star directed a video for her single The Man, in which she played a man-spreading, cigar smoking, strip-club-going businessman.

The satirical video took aim at male music executives – in particular Scooter Braun, who purchased her back catalogue last year.
