The sale of Gospel music has reduced its inspiration-Koda

Multi-gospelhit maker, Koda has chided gospel musicians for changing the dynamics of the industry into commercialisation.

According to him, the digital sale of music and the traditional sale of cassette and Compact Disc (CD) have decreased the inspiration and spiritual messages most gospel songs convey.

To him, gospel music goes beyond the composition of praise and worship and stressed the need for gospel tracks to carry spiritual message that would consume listeners with the Holy Spirit.

Speaking exclusively with spotonnews.net in Accra on Thursday, the sensational singer explained that gospel artistes like Tagoe Sisters and Daughters of Glorious Jesus rocked the country with spiritual songs that overrode listeners with goose bumps.

He observed that the singers were concerned about the impact their song would make rather than the money they would make out of the sales of the music.

“For singers like Daughters of Glorious Jesus and Tagoe sisters, they used to travel around with Rev. Amoako during crusade to sing and transform people to God so their songs were unique and were not composed to make money,” Koda added.

He bemoaned that most contemporary gospel singers could not wait to be ordained by God before hitting the studios, saying “their quest to satisfy their stomach rush them into the studios to produce songs for daily bread.”

The sensational gospel icon called on singers to find job aside music in order for them not to depend solely on music for daily survival.

“Gospel music comes with references to a higher power that can help in overcoming obstacles and conquering fears. This makes it a powerful inspirational tool for the mind to influence moods and stimulates the brain to help unleash creativity when one listens to it,” he stated.

Born Augustine Kofi Owusu Dua-Anto, he is a song writer, record producer and multi instrumentalist who has rocked the gospel industry with banging hit tracks including “Nsem Pii, Nkwa abodoo and “Hosanna.”
