George Darko’s 40- Day Observance slated for Wednesday May 1

The forty-day observation of the late King of Burger Highlife, George Darko is slated for Wednesday May 1, 2024.

It would be held at the Salem Park in Akropong Akuapem at 8 am.

This was announced by the family of the late musician as a call on Ghanaians to help observe the day together with them.

Until his death on March 20, George Darko was the Tufuhene of Akropong Akuapem with the stool name Nana Apem Darko I.

He died aged 73.  He was known for his skills as a guitarist, vocalist, composer, and songwriter.

George Darko achieved enormous success in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, and his songs continue to rank among the most classic and timeless highlife compositions in the country’s music history.

Some of his popular songs included “Ako Te Brofo,” “Moni Palava,” ‘Mensei Da,” “Prempremsiwaa,” and “Bire Bire.”
