American rapper Nicki Minaj releases her debut single of the year

American female hip hop singer, Nicki Minaj has released her maiden track of the year.

Dubbed “Yikes,” the hip hop mix was released on last week Friday and encourages people to work hard.

The release of “Yikes” comes after Minaj’s Twitter spat with ex boyfriend Meek Mill who is also a rapper.

The two pointed accusing finger on each other, with Nicki Minaj alleging that Meek beat women and Meek frowning on the manner Nicki  was defending her brother, who was recently convicted for raping a minor and sentenced to 25 years life in prison.

Although fans were expecting the pop singer to release her fifth album, but Nicki promised to make the album surprise.

She said in an interview that the releasing of an album was supposed to be a surprise not something that people have to know about it.

Fans believed the track was setting a tone for the release of the singer’s fifth album.

Before the release of the track the war on twitter between the ex lovers spark lots of controversies.

“Hella bands, pull up, stashed up, super facts up/ All you bitches Rosa Parks, uh-oh, get your ass up, uh,” was the line in the track  that made headlines leading up to the track’s release.
The song is reminiscent of “Only”-era cockiness, combined with a refreshing tone straight out of a Pink Friday session.
Die in the wool fans could not help but stay up late for the song’s 3AM EST release after Nicki announced its imminent arrival on Thursday evening.
