Dr Okoe-Boye nominated for Ghana Leadership Awards
Ghana Leadership Awards (GLA) is set to honour the former Member Of Parliament (MP) of Ledzokuku Constituency, Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye for securing the healthcare needs of Ghanaians.
The award which is in its 15th edition aims at celebrating outstanding and exemplary leaders who significantly contributed positively to advancing Ghana and Africa at large.
According to organisers of the awards, Dr Okoe-Boye made it to the nomination lists for his commitment in revamping the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) which in turn has reduced complaints by members and healthcare providers.
Under his leadership, the organizers said there was transparency in the system which made more effective governance of the schemes while introducing various guidelines that improved quality services.
“Congratulations for your nomination for Ghana Leadership Awards 2023 for your extraordinary achievements in the interest of Ghana and humanity,” the organizers said in a Facebook post.
Dr Okoe-Boye is a Ghanaian politician who was once the board chairman of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the nation’s largest medical facility.
He also served as a deputy Health Minister and was subsequently sworn in on 21 April 2020.
He is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Agency (NHIA) mandated to run the affairs of Ghana’s premium health insurance scheme, the National Health Insurance Scheme.
