I regret being Famous— Ajos

Veteran comic actor Kingsley Kojo Kyeremateng, known in the industry as Ajos, has expressed concern about how prominent individuals in the country have lost their privacy.

According to him, the status of celebrities has led them to live their lives for the public.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Ajos expressed regret for the lives celebrities had to live in pleasing the public.

“Being popular can be problematic. It’s not really good. You end up attracting different kinds of people to you. People who want money from you, people who want to use you to be popular themselves, people who hate you.”

“You can’t do anything for yourself, everything you do is all for public consumption. It’s like you are there for the masses,” he lamented,” he explained.

Recounting 30 years ago ordeal, he said he had to poo in his car due to his fame status.

“I had gone to Accra UTC on an errand some thirty years ago. There I felt the urgent need to visit the toilet. As soon as I got out of the car, someone came up to greet me and started asking me questions. Meanwhile, I was struggling to hold it in.”

“There was no public toilet around. But I couldn’t look around because there were a lot of people in the vicinity all looking at me and trying to talk to me.”

“So, I had to do it inside my car, in the front seat and drive home. So being popular is not good at times,” he said.

Ajos also narrated an embarrassing moment in the market at Takoradi in the Western Region where traders stained his blue shirt to make up for a role he played in a movie which they deemed as “evil.”
