Our back is against the wall, we are tired— Stonebwoy to GHAMRO executives
Reggae/Dancehall artiste Livingstone Etse Satekla known by his stage name Stonebwoy has expressed sadness about the manner the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) and other music royalty systems are working without the interest of Musicians in the country.
According to him, there is no transparency in their dealings, stressing that he is tired that the institutions designed to protect the right of musicians are rather acting in their own selfish interests.
Stonebwoy’s comment follows a showbiz sensationalist, Steven Xavier who accused legendary highlife musician, Rex Omar and other GHAMRO executives of working without meeting the transparency threshold at a music seminar organised by Charterhouse Ghana Limited, Organisers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
He bemoaned that the executives blocked people who had technical know-how to conceal vital information from the musicians and the public.
The “1GAD” hitmaker expressing his opinion about the development said the musicians’ back were against the wall and as such GHAMRO had to work to achieve its goal, objective and purpose.
“Following the national Music Summit Yesterday. @Ghamro_official keeps repeating the same excuses. We are tired! Uncle Rex and uncle Abraham. Our back is against the wall o..” he said.
Stonebwoy further indicated that the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) was no different, adding that “and As For The State of #Musigha dier SAD Kwraaah!!”
GHAMRO Executive members were put in a tight corner on Monday at a music seminar organised by Charterhouse Ghana Limited to educate Industrial players on means to develop.
During the seminar to , a showbiz enthusiast Seven Xavier dragged Rex Omar and other executive members present for not performing their duties, and further accused him of blocking people with technical know-how from helping the organisation to achieve its goal.
“It saddens me that they are invited everywhere only to lie and defend themselves. I’m tired of that,” Seven Xavier boldly stated at the seminar. “They are not doing anything at GHAMRO.”
“About the logging companies that we were talking about, ask them how much is the ‘big money’ they mentioned? Ask them about No Code. They were willing to work with them for about three years without taking money. They worked with Kissseman for six months and kicked them out because they didn’t like transparency,” he stated.
For GHAMRO to work, Seven Xavier suggested that Rex Omar, Agya Abraham and Diana Hopeson had to step aside.
Meanwhile, a United Kingdom (UK)-based Ghanaian music duo Reggie n Bollie supported Stonebwoy’s tweet and said “Love this bro @stonebwoyb. We must all speak the truth to power or forever perish in a useless industry full of bogus systems.
“Somethings must change for the better.. been far too long since Rex Omar own time,” Stonebwoy quoted Reggie n Bollie’s tweet.
