The main event is scheduled to take place at the Gounghin Primary school in Ouagadougou on June 14 to 16, 2024 under the Minister of the Environment, Roger Barro.
It would be celebrated under the theme: “Climate change and terrorist threats; roles and responsibilities of citizens.”
Speaking to the media at the launch of the event, FESIME promoter, Ibrahim Simporé, known in the industry as Ras Simposh said the event was organised to fine tune the minds of youth on means to keep their environment clean.
He said the act of reforestation as well as the collection of plastic bags done before the festival were acts of innovation to propel the youth.

“As part of the launch of the 2nd edition of FESIME, we decided to organise activities with the students of the Gounghin Mixed High School, who are considered the next generation of the country because they must be instilled with good values.
This activity consists of reforestation and the collection of plastic bags,” Ras Simposh said.
He mentioned that the second edition of the festival would kickstart with the musical podium where artists would highlight the need to protect and preserve the environment.
In order to make the audience understand the event better, Ras Simposh stated that there would be a play to raise awareness on the need to protect the environment.
“We also have a humanitarian component for internally displaced people, exhibition stands, NGOs and a panel which will bring together environmental experts to talk about behaviours to adopt for the maintenance of the environment,” he added.
On his part, Dramane Sawadogo, the Director General of Environmental Preservation, representative of the Minister of the environment, lauded the organisers of the festival for creating awareness among students on means to preserve their environment.
“When we look at the heatwave and the environmental pollution across the city, it shows that it is imperative to protect the environment,” he said.
Mr Sawadogo therefore charged the Burkinabes to be united and responsibly engaged in the fight against deforestation and the dumping of plastic waste.
