‎Veteran Asian singer Pilita Corrales dies at 85

‎Veteran Asian singer, Pilita Corrales, has died after suffering from an ailment of a sort.

‎The 85 year old entertainer’s death has thrown the Philippines industry into a state of shock just a day after her death went viral.

‎Janine Gutierrez, an actress who made
‎the announcement of the death of her grandmother on Instagram this Saturday, April 12 said the news was a heavy blow to the family.

‎“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mami and mamita, Pilita Corrales,” she wrote.

‎According to the actress, Pilita would be remembered for her exceptional contributions to the Asian Entertainment industry.

‎“Pilita touched the lives of many, not only with her songs but also with her kindness and generosity. She will be remembered for her contributions to the entertainment industry, but most of all for her love of life and family,” continued the young actress.

‎Gutierrez further assured fans that details about the memorial services would be shared to the public at the appropriate time.

‎“Please join us with your prayers and kind thoughts as we celebrate her beautiful life. Further details regarding memorial services will be shared soon,” she added.

‎Known for her distinctive vocal style and her signature “backbend,” Corrales is survived by her daughter actress Jackie Lou Blanco and son Ramon “Monching” Christopher Gutierrez.

‎She is widely known for her hit tracks including “Kapantay ay Langit,” “A Million Thanks to You” and “Dahil Sa’yo,” among others.

‎Aside from her decorated musical career, Corrales was a mainstay on Philippine television, notably co-hosting “An Evening with Pilita” and being a judge on talent shows like “Philippine Idol.”

‎She also appeared in many films alongside the late actors Fernando Poe Jr. and Dolphy.
