EC official has met her untimely death in an Okada accident

An Electoral Commission (EC) official in the voters register exhibition exercise on Friday met her untimely death in a motorcycle “okada” accident.

The alleged “okada” accident is believed to have occurred at Amansie when the deceased was returning home from the exhibition exercise.

The official died at a spot when the Okada skidded off after it tried to overtake a sprinter bus.

The deceased who was identified as Sylvia was a teacher at Manso Adubia DA Junior High School (JHS) but was temporarily working with the EC as an official following the closure of elementary schools in the country as a measure to contain the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

Report indicated that the accident occurred at a village in the Amansie south district where she was on duty at the All Days (Nnyanyinase) Electoral Area.

According to an eye witness report, Sylvia fell off the Okada she picked after the driver of the motorbike tried to overtake a sprinter bus.

Recently, two Okada riders leading the convoy of the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama were involved in an accident.

The accident is alleged to have led one of the okada riders in a coma while the other suffered injuries.

Meanwhile, Former President Mahama has promised to legalise and regularise Okada business to provide employment for the teaming unemployed youth.
