Sarkodie shuts down the web with over 1.5million fans streamlining his virtual concert

Over 1.5million people across the world on Sunday streamlined a show dubbed: “Black Love Concert” organised by the country’s most rated rapper, Sarkodie.

The concert is the second most popular virtual concert organised in the country after Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale’s Faith Concert.

The overwhelming number, according to its sponsor, Ceek slowed down the access of the site making it difficult for others to join.

Ceek on Sunday evening pleaded with fans who could not access the site due to the technical challenges they were encountering.

“#SarkNation shut the web down. Due to overwhelming traffic we are having some technical issues. Please standby we are working to resolve this. 1.5 million at once with more coming,”  it said.

The challenges encountered in ensuring everyone getting access to the show led to delay in proceedings.

Workers of Ceek noted that the entire world was trying to access the Black Love Concert and due to the number people were complaining.

“@sarkodie #sarknation Apologies for the delays, the entire world is trying to get to the #BlackLoveVirtualConcert due to the overwhelming numbers many people have reported issues accessing the site. We are working fervently to resolve the issue,” they said.

The rapper was compelled to urge fans who could access the event to join and enjoy from Facebook.

Analytics showed that over 1,335,096 joined the concert from Ghana while 175,536 joined from United States of America with 47,865 from United kingdom .

Participants from Spain were 38,419 and  30,697 were from Germany.

The concert saw performances from female vocalist Efya, King Promise, Joey B, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale and the host of the concert, Sarkodie among other musicians.

Many entertainment pundits rated the event as the most successful one due to its number of participants.

It could be noted that Sarkodie’s Black Love Concert had lots of engagements than Shatta Wale’s Faith concert.

The faith concert saw about 64,000 fans and music lovers across the globe watching him live on his social media page.

Virtual concert has become the new normal for entertainers after the novel coronavirus disease put on hold activities in the world.

Many musicians across the globe adopted virtual concert to entertain their fans and to remain relevant in the industry.
