Beyoncé sends Gh culture international as she premiers film of ‘Already’ on Disney+
Beyoncé Knowles Carter, American celebrated musician has premiered the music video for “ALREADY,” a sound track that features Ghana’s dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale and Major Lazer on Disney+ today.
The sound track forms part of the “Lion King: The Gift” album which was released last year as a soundtrack for 2019’s remake of “The Lion King,” an animated film.
It saw appearances from Jay-Z, Blue Ivy Carter, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Pharrell Williams, Wizkid, Jessie Reyez, Mr Eazi, Tierra Whack, 070 Shake, Burna Boy, among others.
Speaking ahead of the premier of the “Black is King” a visual of the Lion King:the Gift album, Beyoncé explained that the visuals tell the rich story of Africans.
She stated that the video was her labour of love and passion project that she has been filming, researching and editing day and night for the past year.
Beyoncé explained that the visual was originally filmed as a companion piece to “The Lion King: The Gift” soundtrack and meant to celebrate the breadth and beauty of Black ancestry which voiced the character of Nala.
It was directed by Jon Favreau, starred Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, John Oliver, Keegan-Michael Key, JD McCrary and James Earl Jones.
The video for “ALREADY” a blend of Ghana culture featured in the visual album which was premiered today.
