Police will arrest all those who don’t adhere to COVID-19 safety protocol—Prez Akufo-Addo

Police will be arresting all those who leave the house without wearing a nose mask, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said.

According to him, the surge in the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) case is the result of non-conformance to the safety protocols.

Speaking in a televised address in Accra on Sunday, President Akufo-Addo stated that it was prudent for Ghanaians to strictly adhere to the safety protocols especially during this time that restrictions of movement and gatherings have been eased.

He said the surest way to overcome the virus is to be disciplined.

“Keep the Social distancing, hand washing protocols, exercise and eat good food to get your system immune,” Nana Akufo-Addo added.

He noted that cases of Central and Western Region were increasing therefore called on the people to be cautious and understand that the virus spread from persons to persons through droplets.

President Akufo-Addo announced that COVID-19 case count in the country has increased to 11,964 with 4,558 recovery case and 54 death.

Active case is 7,652, 13 patients are severely ill, six in critical condition while three are under ventilators.

He maintained that plans were far advanced to ensure that the citizenry are well kept from the ailment.

Nana Akufo-Addo insisted that the infection and death rate were low as compared to global and other African average case.

He said globally 5.5per cent was the average death rate while 2.6per cent was the average death rate in other African countries.

That, the President said was because of the good plans initiated by the government to combat the ailment.

“Out of 31million population we have tested 254,331 people for the virus and this means government is effectively working to trace, test and treat people for the virus,” he added.
