Rebecca Akufo-Addo celebrates love with husband on Valentine’s Day

First lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo has sent a bouquet of love to her husband, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to mark this year’s Valentine’s day.

Expressing her love to her husband on her Twitter page, she thanked her husband for year’s of showering her with love.

Mrs Akufo-Addo also wished her husband “Happy Chocolate Day.”

Thank you my hubby dearest @NAkufoAddo ❤️
Happy Chocolate Day.

Early this week, Mrs Akufo-Addo urged the public to use the Valentine occasion to patronise chocolate in Ghana to boost the welfare of Cocoa farmers.

“A Happy Chocolate Week to all Ghanaians; from our cocoa farmers, to our lovely children, to everyone who loves our rich Ghanaian chocolate.

Let’s continue to enjoy made in Ghana chocolate products and promote Ghana chocolate to the world! 🇬🇭 🍫
#GHChocolateReigns,” she added.

Valentine’s Day is a day set aside to celebrate Saint Valentine, a third century martyr whose feast day was the same as roman fertility.

The day is celebrated on February, 14 when lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts.

Given their similarities, it has been suggested that the holiday has its origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, held in mid-February.

As an English name, it has been used occasionally since the 12th century which is observed on 14th of every February as the day to honour this “saint.”

The occasion celebration in Ghana is coincided with National Chocolate Day which was instituted in 2005 on February 14 every year to boost the domestic consumption of Ghanaian chocolate and other cocoa based products.

This gives a healthy orientation to the celebration of Valentine’s Day in Ghana notwithstanding the love showed to people on this unique day, either through a lovely word of message or the purchase of chocolate and flower to enhance relationship and gratitude to loved one.
