COVID-19;Ghana augments ‘rapid testing’ with the use of drones—-Government reveals!
As part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery of COVID-19 patients, government will deploy the use of drones to transport samples of persons suspected to have contracted coronavirus for testing.
This would enhance efficient healthcare service and enable health workers to work around the clock to provide test results as early as possible.
This was disclosed by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo yesterday in accra, when addressing the nation on measures adopted by the government to battle COVID-19 in the country.
He stated that his outfit had introduced the use of drones to expedite the transportation of samples to laboratory centres.
On Friday April 17, the President noted that, 51 samples were delivered from the Omenako Drone Distribution Centre to Noguchi for testing.
He further indicated that rapid results testing was being introduced to augment surveillance and enhanced contact tracing efforts, adding that “this will help us to quickly isolate and treat confirmed cases.”
Nana Akufo-Addo urged individuals to be alert and report any case urgently for early testing and treatment.
He also established that Ghana was the first African country to have introduced rapid testing and promised to work harder to ensure the people get the needed health services to combat the sickness from the country, stressing that “this to shall pass.”
