My 60th birthday gifted me with COVID-19—Kennedy Agyapong
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has revealed that he was infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) during his 60th birthday.
According to him, he tested positive for Covid-19 after his birthday celebration on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
“During my 60th birthday party, I was exposed to so many people including positive COVID-19 and asymptomatic individuals.
I dined with them, even some were wearing their nose masks while others had theirs down the chin,” he said.
Narrating his ordeal, the controversial MP bemoaned that he lost weight drastically and had to self-isolate for weeks before responding to treatment.
“For over two weeks I was in quarantine; I could hardly breathe and suffered fever. My bed was fully soaked as if water had poured on it and within five days, I had lost weight drastically,” he recounted.
The virus, Mr Agyapong said was real and urged everyone to strictly adhere to all the laid down protocols to contain its spread.
“I have recovered now and not shy to talk about it because I am a testimony but the disease is so real and we don’t have to joke with it,” he added.
Mr Agyapong in a video that was circulating on social media, was seen seated around a table with his family and friends in a hearty chat during his birthday celebration.
His party was crowned with a toast proposed by former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Kwame Owusu who got the crowd laughing and applauding.
The video got many social media users talking as most observers expressed worry over the total disregard for the social distancing protocols and other safety etiquette directed by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
