I will build studios for creative industry— Kennedy Agyapong

As part of his vision to  bolster the creative Art sector, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer hopeful and Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has declared intentions to construct state-of-the-art studios across the nation when he becomes president.

According to him, he will establish a dedicated fund for the construction of the studios to enable musicians and producers to deliver top-notch music videos and cinematic productions.

Speaking in a recent media interview to outline his vision, the renowned politician expressed his commitment to invest in the creative arts sector to enhance the work of stakeholders within the music industry.

“Let me tell you something, we need to build fantastic studios over here. What I don’t like is why is it that any good music or show, they have to go and do it in Dubai, South Africa. We are going to do it here under my presidency. Nice studios. Let others also come here; we are human beings,” he said.

Mr Agyapong emphasised the need to create an enabling environment for Ghanaian creatives to thrive and also take lots of pride in it.

“When you enter the studio, like what you’ve done, you should be proud of it and you can change it for the next artiste. So we need beautiful studios over here. We have to create a fund for them [the creative arts industry], because to produce a good movie or song, you need a lot of money,” he added.

Mr Agyapong is facing stiff competition from the likes of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr. Afriyie Akoto, and former legislator Francis Addai Nimo at the upcoming NPP  Super delegates conference scheduled for  Saturday, November 4.
