Zongo communities protest against Mahama’s Mortuary promise

The Zongo Communities in Adentan municipality have protested against the promise made by the flagbearer of the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC) to build mortuaries in order to improve the standard of living among people in the  Zongos.

According to them, the promise made by former President John Dramani Mahama would not add value to their lives and that of their children.

They stated that the promise was baseless and would not afford their Children a brighter future and develop the Zongo communities.

The people living in Adenta Zongo rejected the campaign promise during a health walk organised by Young Entrepreneurs Squad (YES) today in Accra.

The walk dubbed: “Next walk with Nana and your parliamentary,” was organised to express the Muslims grievances against the promise made by the opposition.

It was also done to canvass vote for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) Presidential and Parliamentary candidate of the Adenta Constituency.

The Muslims stated that they wanted quality education that would unearth the talent and open brighter future for their wards, not mortuaries.

“We don’t like any Mortuary! We the people from the Zongos need quality education for our children to secure and give them a brighter future,” they chanted.

They indicated that the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has exhibited much professionalism in the delivery of his mandate and promised to walk with him in the 2020 elections.

The people from Adenta Zongo noted that they needed initiatives that could build zongo in the right direction not the one that could collapse their development and “hold no better impact in their lives.”

Speaking at the event, the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area, Mr Buaben Asamoa who walked the Zongo people through the achievement of the President said the NPP had better alternatives to improve the living condition of the Zongo people, hence urged them to give the party another four year for them to do more for the Zongo people.

In addition, Mr Asamoa stated that  through the economic and social development programmes enrolled by thr president captured a broad vision for the development of the Zongo communities.

He however appealed to the people to maintain him on the parliamentary seat for him to work in making their dreams realised.
