Five multimedia journalists test positive for COVID-19
Management of the Multimedia Group Limited (MGL) has disclosed that five of their staff members have tested positive for the novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
According to them, the workers were contacted through the the COVID-19 tracing team.
This was contained in a statement issued by management in Accra on Thursday.
“This is to inform you that five members of our team at our business offices in Accra who were contact traced and tested by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), have tested positive for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19),” it said.
The affected team members, who were all asymptomatic, according to the statement had been isolated in line with case management protocols.
The statement indicated that officials of the GHS were monitoring them and could assure the public they they were responding well to treatment.
As part of measures to ensure the safety and well-being of workers and guests who visited their office, management stated that they have ramped up internal contact tracing in liaison with the GHS.
“Together, we have ensured that team members who may have come into contact with the five team members who tested positive have been tested and have gone into self-isolation for 14 days as required,” the statement revealed.
In addition, all remaining team members were being tested for the ailment, stressing that testing began on Monday, June 15.
Management assured that disinfection and cleansing of studios, offices and facilities were ongoing on daily basis to contain the spread of the virus.
“We wish to encourage all team members and guests to observe the enhanced safety protocols we have put in place in all our offices and branches,” the statement added.
The statement reiterated management’s commitment in working with health authorities to implement all safety measures as required while discharging their responsibility to the nation, audience and advertisers even in “these difficult times.”
