I am the true ‘Artiste of the Year’ Kofi Kinaata claims
Highlife musician, Kofi Kinaata has claimed that he is the true “Artiste of the Year” even though the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) ultimate plaque is in the name of Kuami Eugene.
According to him, he is the actual winner and no one could dispute that fact.
“I know I am the Artiste of the Year. The name was just on the plaque for Kuami Eugene but I knew it is mine,” he claimed.
Speaking in a media interview in Accra after the VGMA, the multi hit maker indicated that he deserved the ultimate award.
He explained that his performance in the year under review was impressive and everyone loved what he did as an artiste.
“I wanted everything for myself because I deserve it,” he added.
Kofi Kinaata who did not express disappointment in the organisers of the awards expressed happiness for what he won and said he was so closed to gain the converted prize.
“Looking at the year under review, it was Kofi Kinaata. I know my songs are the best,” he added.
The “Things fall apart” hitmaker however urged his fans not to be disappointed as it was a competition and promised to work extra hard to make them proud.
“Majority of Ghanaians will say is Kofi Kinaata but aside the judges, anything can happen,” he consoled his fans.
The Fanti musician was one artiste who won more awards at the 21st edition of VGMA awards night for his “Things Fall Apart” song.
He won three awards from his four nominations and rated as the best musician during the night.
Kofi Kinaata won the songwriter of the year, Vodafone Most Popular song of the year and Highlife song of the year and gained nomination in the artiste of the year category which Kuami Eugene won.
