A renowned Doctor dies from COVID-19
A surgeon at the Trust Hospital (TH) in Accra, Dr Richard Kisser has died after testing positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
According to a statement issued in Accra on Friday by the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, the medical doctor died on Thursday when he succumbed to the complications of the deadly respiratory ailment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
“We regret to inform all staff of the passing of our consultant surgeon, Dr Richard Kisser. The sad event occurred on Thursday July 2, 2020 at the UGMC where he was receiving treatment for COV1D-19 complications,” the statement said.
The management of the facility bid him farewell and consoled his family for his sudden death.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement added.
The death of Dr Kisser makes him one of the renowned health professionals who have died from the ailment through their hard work to save the lives of COVID-19 patients.
In April, the Rector of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Professor Jacob Plange-Rhule was reported to have died of COVID-19 at the UGMC.
Hundreds of other health workers who are on the frontline have also been infected as some mortalities have been recorded others have also recovered.
