Management of Ghana Media Students Awards (GMSA) 2020 appeals for support
Management of Ghana Media Students Awards (GMSA), an excellence awards scheme, has appealed to institutions and other corporate bodies to partner them in awarding talented media students in the country.
According to them, it was time to unearth talents of youth and young media personalities to motivate them to strive for excellence.
Speaking to Spot On News in Accra on Friday, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the awards scheme, Mr Raymond Kombat explained that most awards in the country were targeted at adults and underscored the need to target the youth right from school.
He said the debut award dubbed “Ghana Media Students Awards 2020” which is designed to award various students and media schools across the country is scheduled for August.
Touching on the categories, Mr Kombat indicated that there were 23 categories including the best writer, best student blogger, best news anchor among others.
He stated that there would be great media personalities who would share their experience with the students for them to embrace ethics of the profession.
The awards, Mr Kombat stated would help media professionals to be inspired and always become professionals in their field of endeavours.
He noted that the awards would also provide avenues for learning opportunities not only for the students but for their teachers as well and appealed for support to make it successful.
“The media play vital role in our lives, without them we will not get access to information. Media personalities contribute in national development and we have to award these young journalists and broadcasters to embrace ethics of the job.
I am therefore appealing to all corporate institutions, nongovernmental organisations and individuals to support this maiden awards scheme in order to make it memorable,” he added.
