Presidency is not for experiment—Prez Akufo-Addo to Mahama
The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that the seat of the presidency is not for experiment but for carrying out works that could enhance developmental agenda.
According to him, some of his political contenders were using the mandate for experiment and when the trial fails they wish for a come back.
Speaking at the National Council Meeting in Accra on Saturday, President Akufo-Addo explained that the country wanted a leader who could deliver on his mandate and reduce the plight of the people.
He said a record of a person has to do the talking not the plea for vote to amend all the broken promises which could not be completed within eight years of attaining office.
President Akufo-Addo noted that promises were not key for growth but achieving them was vital for national development and pledged to do more to alleviate the poverty situation of the country.
He noted that since assumption of office, he has successfully employed 550,000 unemployed graduates and rolled out free education policy to enable every Ghanaian child gain quality education.
Touching on things he would do when given four more years, the President said he would improve the infrastructure system of the country and continue with more social intervention programmes that would be in the interest of the ordinary Ghanaian.
He further stated that Ghanaians deserved a president who was selfless, dedicated, work in national interest and has the vision of setting the country on a map to compete effectively with other developed countries.
“The outbreak of novel Coronavirus has exposed weaknesses in our heath sector, agenda 88 will be beneficial to revamp our health sector and improve quality health service, delivery” president Akufo-Addo added.
When voted into power, he said would help him continue to deliver more for Ghanaians and enhance the country’s educational and digital system to improve the economy.
Nana Akufo-Addo appealed for four more years to do more for the country and also thanked the National Council to acclaim him as the right candidate for this year’s elections.
“I thank the Almighty God for the honour done me today by the members of the National Council of the NPP for acclaiming me as the presidential candidate of the party for the December 7 general election.
I shall with God’s help, do everything within my power to justify your decision and lead this smooth deserving party to another victory in December. I accept this in all humility,” he added.
The President used his acclamation ceremony to outdoor the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate for the upcoming polls.
This was done in fulfilment of Article 13 (3) of the party’s Constitution with the vice President subsequently endorsed by the Council.
