ECG sets to roll out GoG COVID-19 Electricity Relief to save the pockets of the citizenry on tariffs!

The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) is set to roll out the Government of Ghana (GoG) COVID-19 Electricity Relief policy on May.

The GoG Electricity Relief plan is a policy implemented by the government to absorb three months utility tariffs in order to reduce the burden that COVID-19 has imposed on the citizenry.

This was contained in press statement issued in Accra on Wednesday by the officials of the ECG.

The statement urged the citizenry to swipe or insert cards into their meters before purchasing credit to enable ECG gather accurate consumption data of customers.

“ECG wishes to inform its cherished customers who purchase electricity with prepaid cards to do well to either swipe or insert their cards into their meters before visiting vending points or ECG offices to purchase credit,” it said.

This, the statement explained would ensure a smooth implementation of the GoG COVID-19 Electricity Relief.

It noted that Lifeline customers would receive 50 per cent of their March, 2020 consumption for the months of April, May and June 2020.

“All other customers shall receive 50 per cent off their March 2020 consumption for the months of April, May and June 2020,” the statement added.

It explained that April benefits would be realised in the months of May, while May benefits in June and June benefits in July.

The statement however advised Customers to contact ECG District Offices or the call centres to resolve any challenge with regards to the GoG COVID-19 Electricity Relief and enjoy the service.
