Two police officers died while others sustained injuries in a deadly crash at Tema-Akosombo Highway

Two police officers have been confirmed dead while six others in critical condition after a gory accident occurred on Sunday at Tema-Akosombo Highway road.

Confirming the incident to the media, Police inspector who identified the two policemen as Ben Bosokah and Constable Forster Somuah Asante said they were pronounced dead on arrival at the Shai Osudoku District Hospital in Dodowa.

The police indicated that the accident occurred on Sunday night around 10pm when Hyundai H100 mini bus with registration number GR 4276-14 with six passengers on board traveling from Tema direction towards Akosombo on Tema-Akosombo Highway.

On reaching Manya Jorpanya junction, the said Hyundai H100 mini bus collided with a Mercedes Benz saloon car with registration Number GT 8430-T driven by Chief Inspector Ben Bosokah with Constable Forster Somuah Asante and 53-year-old Bernard Astu on board coming from the opposite direction.

Both vehicles got damaged while drivers and all occupants sustained severe injuries, thus rushed to the Shai Osudoku District Hospital where the two police officers were pronounced dead.

Bodies of the two deceased have been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary in Accra awaiting autopsy.
