Wendy Shay stated that she was impressed with some flagship policies that have turned lives around and things the government has promised in its 2020 manifesto to deliver when given another four years.

Speaking in a media interview in Accra on Monday, the Afrobeat musician stated that she has been impressed with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s performance, policies and determination to move Ghana Beyond Aid.

“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has done a lot of good work and is still doing more in the creative arts industry. If you look at some of the things they have done, even not just the creative arts industry, for example the Free Senior High School (SHS), a lot of people have benefitted from the policy,” she said.

The “Kut It” hitmaker acknowledged that some of her relatives have benefitted from the Free SHS policy initiated by President Akufo-Addo and urged the president to do more for the nation.

“I have cousins, junior siblings in the country and they have all been beneficiaries of the Free SHS policy. So Nana Addo has done very well,”  she added.

Wendy Shay however called on the President to provide artists with some stimulus package to help them cover up losses they made during the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

“Nana Addo has done a lot for the creative arts industry. However, what I am expecting from him is that …as a result of COVID-19, many of us have made losses.

So I am hoping the President will pay a courtesy call to us and provide us with some financial assistance to cover up for the loss due to the fact that we couldn’t hold concerts,” she added.

Wendy Shay also encouraged the president to work around the clock to ease restrictions on events and concerts for them to make money before the Christmas.
