COVID-19: Government warns the citizenry to stop undermining the integrity of the military men deployed to ensure lockdown regularities.

The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed disappointment in Ghanaians who have been spreading videos of military men torturing people from the act of disobedience of the current blockade in the country.

According to him, the videos were old and from foreign origin which had nothing to do with the current lockdown issues.

Addressing the nation today in Accra, the President bemoaned that he was extremely perturbed by the act of the few unpatriotic persons who have been deliberately passing on all brutalities by the members of the foreign security agency and presenting them as though they were new incident by Ghanaian security personnel during last week lockdown.

Such videos, he observed undermine the integrity and professionalism of the security personnel and urged the citizenry to refrain from the act.

Nana Akufo-Addo termed the act as “sad and unfortunate” which had sole aim to create discontent and undermine the trust of the people in the men and women of the security services who were discharging their duties professionally.

He indicated that the law enforcement agencies were determined to locate the originators of those anti social acts  and bring them to book.

The President cautioned the citizenry to end those fabricated lies and quit spreading the videos to maintain calm and order in the nation, adding that it was time for all to collaborate and fight for the welfare of the nation.

He appealed to the citizenry to continue observing the social distancing  and personal hygiene protocol as well as staying at home to ensure the smooth flow of the process.

That, Nana Akufo-Addo noted would help mitigate the spread of the virus and bring back the state to normalcy.
