Gh fights against COVID-19 is proven successful; 5,638 positive people are isolated from the population while 28 people dumped into the grave!

Four more persons have been booted to death by the deadly respiratory ailment, COVID-19 bringing the death toll to 28.

Those who unfortunately lost their life to COVID-19 were reported to be having underlying illnesses, including diabetes, hypertension, and chronic liver disease.

An update by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Friday shows that 108 more people have tested positive for the virus which brings the total number of positive cases to 5,638.

Meanwhile, 786 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus, bringing the total recovery case to 1,460.

An update on the GHS website indicates that 44 of the 108 new cases were recorded in Accra, 26 in the Western Region, 16 in the Central Region and 12 from the Northern Region.

The remaining 10 were recorded in the Ashanti Region; with five from the Kumasi sub-metro and the other five from Obuasi.

However, the government appealed to Ghanaians not to panic when they keep recording increase in number of cases.

According to the government, the numbers suggest his tireless efforts in combating the virus from the country.

That, it indicated would fully help to open the economy for people who have been stricken by the economic impact of the virus to have relief.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo maintained that the enhanced surveillance system had enabled the health workers to aggressively trace people who might have into contact with the infected persons, rapidly test them and treat them on time.

Meanwhile, A Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Bernard Oko-Boye explained that the country is currently having the lowest mortality rate from COVID-19 as compared to other countries worldwide.

He observed that Ghana has mortality rate of 0.4 per cent, this, the Deputy Minister said means that only four people out of 1000 people who test positive for COVID-19 might die from the virus.
Dr Okoe-Boye maintained that the infection of the virus was also low as the rate stands at 3 per cent average.
Explaining it, he said means that if one person with COVID-19 comes into contact with 100 people only three people will contract the virus, adding that the issue in Europe and North America were different as they are between10 to 15 per cent.
Dr Okoe-Boye called on the people to rather feel happy when the number increase, stressing that “it means we have taken those from the society which in turn will reduce the risk of the population.”
