Fans of Obinim defy COVID-19 protocols to threaten govt with ‘No Obinim, No Vote campaign’ following his arrest

Members of the International God’s Way Church have thronged police headquarters to demand immediate release of the man of God, Bishop Daniel Kojo Obinim who is also known in the religious circles as Angel.

Obinim was arrested on last week Wednesday but believed to have faked up an ailment to delay his arrest.

Over the past days he has been sleeping in Yeboah Hospital at East Legon with policing by the security personnel for him not to flee from the eye of the law.

Finally he was picked up from his sick bed to the station for interrogation, however crowd troupe the station to disrupt police proceedings with chants of “No Obinim, No Vote.”

This has not been the first time that a crowd believed to be members of the church have followed their ‘Angel’ to the police station to interrupt police officers from doing their job.

In 2016, they did similar thing  chanting that “No Obinim, No Vote” which got Obinim exonerated from the crime he committed, with no one knowing where the issue ended.

It could be recalled that a guest by name Bismark Ato Foster who testified against Obinim on Net 2 television stated that the Angel illegally kept his late mother’s gold, hence he went to the police station to report the incidence.

In his dismay, the officer at the station told him that he would not have the nerves to arrest Obinim for the alleged gold incident as the fans would troupe there to interfere the proceedings at the station, which led the man to shockingly asked whether Obinim was above the law.

However, Obinim together with his wife had pleaded with the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong the man behind the “Fake Pastor exposé” to drop the charges leveled against him.

Mr Agyapong told the media that nothing would make him rescind on his decision, adding that he would ensure that the law take its full effect and bring Obinim to book.
