No Jehovah Witness member will work under government sector under my watch— Akua Donkor
The Flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor has threatened to expel all Jehovah Witness Church members working in government institutions if voted as president in the December 7 elections.
Aside that, she also threatened to ensure members of the religious group do not get the chance to hold public office under her watch.
Speaking in an interview on Kofi Tv, a YouTube based Channel, Madam Donkor stated that she saw no reason behind a group of people who did not vote to elect government leaders based on religious principle, but were allowed to work in the government sector and enjoy other government policies.
“When I become president, no member from the Jehovah’s Witnesses will be allowed to have government work, you don’t want to vote, who should vote for you to go and work at the government office,” she questioned.
Madam Donkor indicated that she would ensure the only available sector for Jehovah’s Witnesses to work under her tenure would be the private sector.
She said they would have the opportunity to engage in private activities including trading and farming but not to work in the government sector.
“All members of the Jehovah’s Witness will go to the market and trade,” Madam Donkor stressed.
Having formed GFP in 2016, Madam Donkor was disqualified from contesting the presidential elections by the Electoral Commission (EC) in that year.
Four years down the line she is finally set to have a real chance at getting to the presidency after being cleared to contest in the December 2020 elections.
Madam Donkor in her manifesto delivered so many promises and expressed commitment in achieving them when given the nod in the polls.
She urged Ghanaians to vote for her to foster change and development in the country.
