Sammi Awuku, other NPP party executives escape death in a car explosion at Tolon
The National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammi Awuku and other Northern Regional Executives allegedly escaped death in another accident that happened at Tolon in the Northern Region on Friday.
According to report, the incident happened around 4:00pm with a Tundra vehicle carrying Public Address (PA) system, including microphones, amplifiers among others suddenly exploded and went up in flames in the middle of a crowd where party supporters had gathered to be addressed.

The incident which happened at the Tolon station in the Tolon-Kumbungu district occurred during a campaign activity at the area.
It happened when the National Organiser, Regional Chairman and the Parliamentary candidate of the area were expected to address the almost 2,000 supporters gathered at the place.
The vehicle which was parked in the middle of the station with supporters and constituents already in attendance to listen to the National Organiser and the Regional Chairman suddenly caught fire.

This led the supporters and witnesses to run for their lives, leaving the campaign scene.
The Personnel of the Ghana Fire Service (GFS) were called into the scene to control the fire and also to put an end to the commosion.
Currently, the cause of the fire is still unknown but investigations are ongoing to unleash the cause of the incident that led about 2,000 party supporters to run for their lives.

Sammi Awuku and the team, report said were heading towards the events grounds with few meters away when the vehicle exploded and went up inflames.

They were compelled to cancel the event to a later date for them to have enough time to calm nerves.
During the tour, he and the Parliamentary candidate earlier visited four other communities within the Constituency as well as the palace of Tolon.
Sammi Awuku on October 8, 2020 also survived a near-fatal accident at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the Toyota Land Cruiser Mr Awuku was travelling in veered off the road after a tricycle crossed his vehicle and lost control over the brakes just after Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.
Fortunately, the NPP National Organiser and his driver escaped with no sign of injuries, however, the car was damaged.
Mr Awuku is said to have been traveling to Koforidua after training some party organisers and volunteer groups in Kumasi on Thursday.
