Angel Obinim develops severe health conditions during his five day stay in police custody

Founder of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim was urgently rushed to the hospital on Saturday after released from police custody.

According to his lawyer, Ralph Poku-Adusei the pastor’s health conditions worsen during the five-day stay in prison.

Speaking in a media interview, he said the prison was very detrimental to the health  of the popular ‘Angel’ of God and developed further complications upon release.

“My client has left the police custody. His condition was not good so he is currently with his private doctors for treatment,” Mr Poku-Adusei added.

Family members who spoke to the media on Thursday, accused police personnel of frustrating efforts to bail grant.

They bemoaned that the man of God was not in good health conditions and were trying their best to get him released as soon as possible for him to seek medical attention.

They said they were at the police headquarters since Thursday morning and had provided the required documents as sureties but  their efforts to gain him the bail proved futile.

In reaction to that, Lawyer Poku-Adusei lamented that the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) demanded for all sorts of requirements which were needless but eventually met all the conditions and requirements requested.

Eventually, he said the bail was executed around 3pm this afternoon at the Kaneshie court and the ‘Angel’ of God successfully allowed to reunite with his family.

Bishop Obinim was granted bail by the District Court after his arrest on Tuesday May 19, 2020 with a sum of GHC 100,000 and three sureties, one to be justified.

He, however, stayed in custody after failing to meet his bail conditions.

Bishop Obinim was charged with offence of publication of false news and forging of documents contrary to Sections 208 and 159 of the criminal and other Offences Act, 1060 (Act 29) respectively.
