Speaking in an interview on Neat FM, Mr Mensah said his allegations was due to a viral audio which Mr Ofosu-Ampofo threatened to kidnap and set various markets in the country on fire to make the Akufo-Addo-led administration suffer.

“We were here when Ofosu Ampofo said they will burn down and destroy things and kidnap people for the [NPP] government to be unpopular and to put pressure on Nana Addo.”

“When pedestrian shopping mall was burnt down a week to the elections I was there because I an a presiding member in that area. Per our investigations when a day before the fire outbreak a group of people pulled out their things from their shops,” he added.

Mr Mensah revealed that someone intentionally set the Kantamanto market on fire.

“Could you believe that when we got to Kantamanto the whole place was smelling petrol they don’t sell petrol in Kantamanto but the place was smelling Petrol the same thing happened at Pedestrian Shopping Mall,” he explained.

Mr Mensah indicated that before the fire outbreak at Kantamanto a man allegedly posted on Facebook about the NDC’s intentions to burn down the place.

After seeing the message he forwarded it to the authorities and the 41 years old man who was behind the post has since been arrested in the Volta Region.

Giving a vivid account on how the market was burnt down, Mr Mensah said “the NDC planted explosives and small gas cylinder with the size of a fire extinguisher in the market and set the place ablaze.”
