The National Theatre of Ghana in collaboration with the United States of America Embassy in Accra will on Monday May 30 organise a four-day workshop dubbed: “Next Level” for the youth in the country.
Next Level is an international musical and cultural exchange programme which aims at reaching many divergent groups and promoting the cultural heritage of the country.
The workshop which is hosted by the National Theatre is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs USA and is organised in many countries around the world.
According to a statement issued in Accra yesterday and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the National Theatre, Mr Ako Tetteh, the programme would include workshops and performances by American Hiphop artistes and others for locally recruited participants .
“The workshops will tackle Dance, Beads making, Deejaying and Rapping / Emcing. Participants are to be grouped in these four areas or sectors,” it added.
The workshop, the statement said would include socio- economic groups and would not only facilitate sharing and collaboration between the American artistes and the local participants but also between local artistes and themselves.
“A performance will be produced out of the workshop with the full performances by both the American and local participants. This will be opened to the general public,” it added.
The artistes were also expected to visit selected schools and communities among others to perform or organise workshops.
It therefore called on interested participants between the ages of 15 and 25 years for all sectors “or a bit older for dance may register at the National Theatre during working hours.”
