YouTube views can’t make Joe Mettle number one gospel musician— Patience Nyarko on Mettle’s neck again
Gospel musician, Patience Nyarko has reiterated calls on stakeholders who identify her colleague, Joe Mettle as number one artiste in Ghana to explain the basis upon which they used in addressing him as such.
Earlier, Patience Nyarko said Joe Mettle was being overhyped in the industry as he has no original song to his name and expressed no regret for making such assertion.
After she disagreed with OB Nartey, who claimed Joe Mettle is the number one gospel musician in the country, she stated that Joe Mettle sample his songs from Methodist and Pentecost hymns, thus he could not be addressed as such.
Speaking in a media interview in Accra on Monday, the “W’afom Kwan” hitmaker insisted that people cannot use just YouTube views to make a wild claim that he is the best gospel musician.
She indicated that it would be fair if the right and accurate information would be provided before someone is named as the number one Gospel musician.
Patience Nyarko observed that there were lots of musicians who write their own songs and add creative twist to make their music a hit yet some industrial players fail to recognise them and still see a person who reproduce the already hymns as number one.
Although she said she bear no grudges with Joe Mettle, adding that there were truth and facts which had to be addressed and she just approached the issue as it was.
“I was asked about it in an interview and it is not like I personally recorded a video to react to it. I was asked and I shared my views,” Patience Nyarko added.
