Organisers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to thrill music lovers in Koforidua with the 23rd VGMA Experience Concert scheduled to take place at the Koforidua Jubilee Park on Easter Monday, April 18 at exactly 4:00pm till day break.
This comes after nine years the organisers of the awards scheme, Charter House hosted the nominees jam outside Eastern Region.
Anticipation for the show is at its all-time high, as the VGMA Xperience Concert is the first official open-air concert since 2019.
This year’s edition would see chart-topping artistes including Kofi Kinaata, Medikal, Fameye, Samini, Amerado, Kelvynboy, Joyce Blessing, Dope Nation and Akesse Brimpong performing at the concert.
According to Charter House, there would be no entry fee and the show would also be telecasted live on TV3 and all social media including Facebook and YouTube.
“The VGMA23 Xperience Concert, also known as Nominees Jam, is an amplified experience of music. This edition comes with three key unique experiences – The Fan Park, The Music Lab, and The Live Concert”, a statement by the event organisers said.
“The ‘Experience’ begins with the Fan Park at 4 pm, featuring photo opportunities with the stars, an art display, games, fashion, food, and drinks. This will be followed by the VGMA Music Lab, local talent performance, and audition for upcoming artists.
The best talent will get the opportunity to produce a song with a guest producer/judge. The program will be climaxed with a live concert from the best artists, which will be shown live on TV3, and streamed on Ghana Music Awards pages on Facebook and YouTube,” it added.
VGMA in Schools Project
As part of the total music experience for Koforidua, the ‘VGMA in Schools’ project will be extended to Pope John’s Senior Secondary School. The aim is to expose students to the opportunities within the music business industry while emphasizing the role of education in entertainment-based careers.
In bridging the gap that exists between art and academia, the organizers created the VGMA in Schools project. The project seeks to work with schools, offering students interested in a career in music, an opportunity to dialogue with professionals. Artistes including Camidoh, Epixode and Kuami Eugene are some artistes who have mounted the entertainment stages of various Senior High Schools, performing and engaging the lively students.
It can be recalled that in 2013, Koforidua was brought to a standstill when the nominees of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards made a grand stop in the city. Sensational and chart-topping artists thrilled fans as they performed back-to-back hits.
Last year, all eyes were fixed on VGMA social media platforms for an exciting virtual concert due to the coronavirus. The 2021 VGMA Xperience Concert, saw some eclectic performances from some of the best artists in Ghana.
Kelvyn Boy rocked the stage with his Afrobeats vibe, Kwesi Arthur with the new school rap. While Celestine Donkor took audiences on a spiritual journey, Kuami Eugene crowned the whole show with a stopping performance. Other performers included Adina, the first female to get 11 nominations, Epixode and Abiana, who set the right tone with her soothing voice.
