The Hidalgos were a happy family who had everything to make their life a fulfilling one. However, their nightmare began one unfortunate night when Rey Hidalgo discovered some unknown assailants breaking into his house and held his servants captive.
Left with no choice to escape, he hid his wife Gemma and Ningning Hidalgo under a bed while he secured himself in the wardrobe. The gün men who were masked realised the house was empty so they stole all his money before the sounds of Ning caught their attention to complicate the entire mission.
They began a search for the Hidalgo Family and when they were about to find them, Rey appeared from his hide out to claim he was the only one in the house. He allowed them to take everything they wanted. Ningning made unusual sounds again and the goons found them.
Not ready for the robbers to hurt his family, Rey defended them and he ended up with a bullet, leading to his deàth. His wife and kid became devastated and the incident had a negative toll on their mental health. Gemma was unable to see through her husband’s burial due to psychological conditions.
Leaving her best friend, Blessie to fast track the funeral process with Ningning. After a successful burial service, Blessie was able to advise her to see a psychologist together with Ningning who was unable to recall the incident that led to her father’s deåth. With the necessary therapy, Gemma was able to overcome her fears to start her life without her husband.
She started a jewelry shop and nine years later her business was successful. Ningning was a grown up girl. As things were going on well for her, Cesar, a Contractor who was working for Rey, showed up in the life of Gemma. He was able to seduce the woman for her to fall in lōve with him.
However, Luningning was against the relationship. This led to a confrontation that made Ningning pack her things to leave the house. Unfortunately, she bumped into a hitman who attacked her. Cesar arrived in time to save her.
Ningning took a bold turn to accept her mother and Cesar’s relationship after realising her family needed a man to protect her mother. Cesar almost left for Cebu when he realised the relationship with Gemma would not have a future but Ning was able to stop him from leaving.
Unbeknownst, Cesar has a relationship with Stella, a girl he escaped with when he was coming to Batangas. Stella left her aunt to be with Cesar as his sëxuãl mate. Cesar unsuccessfully ended his relationship with her to chase after Gemma but the girl was poised on winning Cesar over irrespective.
She became jealous of Ning, thinking she was the lady Cesar was cheating her with and attacked her at a coffee shop. Cesar finally proposed to Gemma at the tomb of Rey. Learning about her friend’s hasty decision to marry Cesar, Blessie advised Gemma to have a prenuptial agreement to protect the interest of Ning.
Cesar eavesdropped and accepted to sign the prenup. A year later, Gemma and Cesar became a couple. After their honeymoon, Gemma leased a property to her husband as a wedding gift and for rekindling the happiness in her. She gave him the place to set up his furniture shop there.
Gemma believed she was well to do and was ready to build Cesar up each step of the way for him to become successful. When they came home, their happiness was short lived as Cesar’s “estranged daughter,” Stella, came into the picture and forced herself into the family.
The Hidalgos were surprised to learn of Cesar’s estranged daughter since he had told Gemma that he had no child. Stella claimed that Cesar was unaware of her existence as her mother and Cesar were only having fun and before the deàth of her mother, she told her about him.
She narrated that she used to live with her aunt and when she was 15 years old, she began a search for her father and left her aunt. Until recently, she learnt that Cesar was living there. Surprised by the story of his bed mate, Cesar sat silently and Stella fled since her presence was causing harm. Gemma advised Cesar to go after his estranged daughter.
