Julia Barretto’s mother praises her resilience amid snatching allegations
The mother of actress Julia Barretto has commended her daughter for decisive steps in handling the controversy hounding her relationship with boyfriend Gerald Anderson.
According to Marjorie Barretto, her daughter’s relationship with her colleague, Gerald almost marred her career and personal life in 2019 when she was caught in a love triangle involving Anderson and his then girlfriend, Bea Alonzo.
Addressing the issue in a media interview, Marjorie praised her daughter for being strong amid the trials.
“I’m so proud of her for her ability to articulate. Her choice of words is great, her wisdom is great. I’m so proud that she is still hopeful in life. She sees that a lot can still happen in her life,” she said.
Marjorie indicated after watching Julia Barretto’ s Toni-Talk she quickly texted to praise her daughter for the intelligence she exhibited.
“I had to message her after watching. I said, “Wow, you’re so intelligent and so smart. She’s seasoned now,” she added.
Marjorie also affirmed that Julia was a good daughter, smart and intelligent and was grateful to have such an intellectual daughter who was more like a sister to her.
It could be recalled that in her interview with Toni Gonzaga, Julia said she was “taking accountability” for what happened in 2019, and that she might have caused pain to somebody else.
“Personally, I am sure that I had a role in somebody else’s pain, other people’s pain, in the same way that they have also contributed to my pain. But I think you know that you are okay when you have acknowledged that, ‘I have a role in this, baka may shortcomings din naman ako,’” Julia said.
While she did not mention any names, many observers believed that she was referring to Bea Alonzo, with whom she was then having a spat amid cheating allegations directed at Anderson.
Five years later, Alonzo and Julia appeared to have mended their rift when they met, hugged and exchanged pleasantries during a tribute for industry stalwart and starmaker, Johnny Manahan.
